Melissa M. McDaniel (Owner, Choreographer, Instructor, Adjudicator)
Melissa M. McDaniel is a veteran choreographer, dance educator, and commercial dance artist. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has danced with professional sports leagues, in stage shows, in videos, and on tour. She directed an award-winning dance department at a college-preparatory independent school for almost a decade and served as the Director of Visual Arts and Dance. She also has an impressive dance studio background, with 23 years of experience as an instructor and over 14 years as a competition company director. Melissa travels throughout the United States teaching at conventions and judging talent competitions and pageants. Her professional choreography credits include shows featuring major recording artists, theater productions, national campaigns, and international corporate events. Melissa continues to receive multiple regional choreography awards for her eye-catching routines and was honored as a nominee for Dance Educator of The Year by Charlotte Ballet in 2015. She established Turning Pointe Dance Creations in 2008 to provide professional dance instruction and choreography services to studios and individual students. The company expanded in 2017 in response to Melissa’s desire to develop a since of community and support among dance educators, dancers, and parents of dance students.
Nora Levin is a highly sought after performer and instructor. She began training at Next Step Dance in her home state of North Carolina, and she gained a wealth of performing experience at a young age through her participation in regional talent competitions, dance conventions, competitive dance companies, and various professional dance teams. She pursued her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and was quickly accepted into the very selective Dance Theater Program at the American Music and Dramatic Academy in New York City. While studying at AMDA, she was chosen by the faculty as a dance captain, and since graduation Nora has signed with MSA Models and has achieved great success as a company member, studio instructor, convention guest faculty member, featured dancer in film and television actor. Prior to returning home, Nora was a member of the New York City based dance company VashtiDance Theater with performances at Alvin Ailey, PeriDance, and the United Nations. She has been featured in Grammy award winner Yami Bolos music video “Love Keeping Us Together” and J.Cobb, a new breakout artist, music video “Dream”. Nora has appeared in the FX network’s Royal Pains and a national television campaign for Toyota. She was a WNBA dancer and performed in the nationally televised Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Outback Bowl. Nora has continued her commitment to growth and excellence and continues to take class from and flourish under the tutelage of many master instructors such as Broadway legend Mary Ann Lamb, SYTYCD star Alexie Agdeppa, Boston Ballet soloist Dusty Button, and tap legend Mike Minery. Mary Beth King
Mary-Beth King started dancing at age 7. Her love for dance started with her cheer dance classes. She began competition classes at the age of 14 and has continued to further her dance education ever since. Mary-Beth minored in dance at Western Carolina University and was apart of the WCU dance team who went to Nationals. She has been teaching dance for the last 4 years at several studios. Along with teaching Mary-Beth has performed with local Charlotte artists and at CIAA. Mary-Beth’s motto is, “You can’t teach passion.” As a teacher she strives to inspire her students to reach their full potential and push themselves to be the best dancers they can be.
